What To Do:

The Vilar, a performing arts venue is centrally located in Beaver Creek Resort Village. Each season this state-of-the-art facility draws in large crowds for its diverse repertoire of performances, which range from Broadway musicals and drama to classical chamber and popular music concerts.

GYPSUM. The public is welcome at this rocky residential course, which was designed by Pete Dye and spreads out over a steep, sage-covered mesa. Opened in 1997, this challenging course beguiles golfers with splendid natural scenery and lulls them into states of false confidence with its rolling fairways, which are flanked by native piñon and juniper trees. However, all the bravado ends upon reach number six, Cotton Ranch's signature hole, a daunting par-five that exceeds 550 from the back tees and is almost never reached in two shots thanks to prevailing winds that prevent the 300-plus-yard drives needed to do so! Thereafter, steep drop offs and tough angles are the status quo, creating a truly tough day for many long hitters.

BEAVER CREEK. The Beaver Creek Hiking Center offers guided nature and adventure hikes for folks of all ages, degrees of fitness, and levels of experience, ranging from leisurely strolls to the top of Beaver Mountain (not nearly as daunting as it may appear) to the Gran Traverse Picnic Hike to an excursion intent on conquering one or more of Colorado's famed 14ers. If gear is an issue, don't worry: the center rents out packs, boots, pools, and whatever else you may need.

AVON. The gem of the Town of Avon, Nottingham Park is a 48-acre public space that features athletic fields, tennis and volleyball courts, playground areas, picnic facilities, and wide paths that are ideal for biking, jogging, or a leisurely walk. EAGLE. Ever dream of leisurely soaring over the regal Rockies, taking in the awe-inspiring views of Eagle River Valley, Beaver Creek, Bachelor's Gulch, and Vail from high above ground? Located near Eagle County Regional Airport, this company offers you the chance to do just that when you step aboard one of their FAA-certified hot air balloons, which can accommodate up to eight passengers. Standard flights, which are available year round, range in time from 30 to 75 minutes, and each passenger enjoys a hot beverage during the inflation, a post-flight ceremony, certificate of participation, and post-flight champagne toast.

BEAVER CREEK. Terrific for beginning and intermediate skiers, Arrowhead doesn't experience the large crowd issues that some of its big brothers elsewhere on the mountain have. The slopes also feature a ski lift, the Arrow Bahn.
